MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

After the great success of the first edition of CIMAS, an international technical scientific symposium focused on the subsurface environment, ABAS is pleased to announce the 2nd International Seminar of Subsurface Environment, which will be held on October 4th to 6th, 2011 in Sao Paulo, on the Centro Fecomércio de Eventos. We hope you will be able to attend! Water quantity and quality is a global concern, and groundwater corresponds to 97% of the fresh water available for human consumption. Therefore, in a near future, research on hydrogeology and subsurface environment should be part of several governmental decisions.

Since 2009, the subsurface environment management, including soil and groundwater protection and contamination control, has a specific forum for discussion, CIMAS. The first edition of CIMAS started a discussion on the state of art of this subject, and also about the sustainable use of soil and groundwater resources. Other important subjects will also be discussed in the next edition, like demand for long-term environmental liabilities, used to calculate the value of a company, remediation techniques and innovative solutions for site characterization and remediation.

You are invited to improve your knowledge with important professionals that work on subsurface environment in Brazil and abroad.
